Welcome to the USS Edison
Bronze Unit Award of Merit

The First Month
For for too long, the scientists and researchers of Starfleet have been thrown from center strange to be replaced by so called heroes of warfare and destruction. The boffin has been replaced by the brute and the science officer has become the person who merely maintains your sensors. That ends now.
The year is 2386 by the old Earth Common Era calendar and over a decade has passed the since the Dominion War ravished the Alpha Quadrant. Even now, the United Federation of Planets struggles to return to its peacetime footing after the immense buildup of warships it was forced to authorize. Slowly, the focus is turning away from the carrier and towards the surveyor as the primary instrument of policy.
The USS Edison, a Daystrom class scientific research vessel, is one such ship and these are the stories of its crew...

"I find out what the world needs. Then, I go ahead and invent it." - Thomas Alva Edison
The USS Edison's Sister Ship:

The USS Cheron, a ship of normal people with major issues.

End of Mission Report
1.1 - The Man Who Went Nowhere
13 June 2009
-I- Message From The Commanding Officer
Greetings Everyone!
While there was some initial confusion and trepidation about how to go about with our little mystery, in the end, we did reach a successful conclusion. While I was hoping that the it would be the crew taking the reins and guiding the mission in a fluid fashion, I may have placed to much pressure on your shoulders, and for that I do apologize. For our next mission, however, things should be a little more low key. For the next two months we shall be doing a fairly standard, shore leave mission. The only limits here will be the limit to your imagination as you explore the new leisure center and the environment on the planet Emerald. These are supposed to be the fun missions, so hopefully it will not put anyone off that there are not any set objectives. If anyone gets writers block, as I often struggle with myself, feel free to try a JP with another member of the crew. I have noticed some people's posting slipping, so I would like to touch base with them soon, or else I will have no choice but to remove you. Sorry to be blunt with that, but those are the rules. So, no stress, go out and do your best, write interesting stuff and get your crewmates in on the action. As always, me and Jen will be here to help you should you so need it.
Shining Brightly Onward!

-II- Message From The Executive Officer
Hi folks!
First off, let me send out a big thank you for all of your participation in The Man Who Went Nowhere. I know that it was kind of a tricky and slightly confusing mission for a lot of you, but you stepped up to the challenge and I really appreciate all of the hard work that went in to solving the mystery. Well done!
And now we're off on shore leave! This is free-writing here, people... no set plot, no real story unless you create one (please do!), nothing but getting to know your character and the other characters on the ship. Try to set yourself up in interesting places, perhaps even running in to other crewmates also enjoying the time off! We've got a big, green planet to explore, so have fun with it. In faaaact... just to up the ante a little, my XO's choice award for this shore leave will go to the one who manages to JP with the most other characters! (if there's a tie, it will go to the higher post count). And I'm always about to JP with if anyone wants to send me an idea for a start or two. :)
Go forth, write, and be merry :)

-III- Mission Overview
Mission Accomplished
The USS Edison was dispatched to oversee the scientific conference being held at the Prometheus Foundation where they were unveiling a new form of matter transportation. The Interspatial Matter Transmitter (IMT) was created by Doctor Travis Porter and held the promise of being able to move entire starships across space in seconds. Between a showy Romulan and arrogant scientists, the crew arrived at the Foundation and set about meeting the locals.
The night before the IMT demonstration, Tremas Gann, former Bajoran religious scholar, confronts Doctor Porter in his laboratory and threatens to destroy the prototype. over theological concerns. Before he has a chance to do so, a figure appears in the prototype and kills Porter with a phaser before stunning Gann. Later that morning, the Foundation Director, Ian Dalton, discovers the scene and arrests Gann for murder. Gann's sister, Nyrena, pleads with Commander Gehn to investigate the crime as she knows that her brother could not have done it.
Over the next day, the crew investigates the Foundation and one glaring fact becomes clear. Doctor Porter's assistant, Doctor Eric White, is missing. A closer inspection of the IMT prototype reveals what appears to be a transmission pattern still contained within. The crew reintegrates the pattern to discover Doctor White, now gravely ill due to interspatial radiation from the machine. The truth then falls into place, White killed Porter and framed Gann, while hiding in the IMT until suspicion had died down. With the true murder now found, Gann is released and he and Nyrena return to Bajor. With their work done, the crew of the USS Edison depart for their next assignment.

It seems as though Lieutenant Nev Anders and Lieutenant Commander Joshua Brown have swept the awards for this mission. Congratulations goes out to the both of them. Again, I am disappointed that no other members of the crew recommended anyone for the awards, because then it just leaves it up to me and Jen to decide who gets what.

Everyone, I would like you to please welcome aboard our new scientific field researcher, Master Chief George Baruti. Just because we are scientists, it does not mean we do not know how to get down and dirty out in the wilderness.

With that, our first mission has come to an end and our next one begins. Nothing complicated or difficult this time around, just some simple shore leave on a leisure planet. No, really... Enjoy yourselves, be creative, and relax. I will be posting our arrival there shortly, so until then, we're still on the ship.
Also, Lieutenant Junior Grade Terrel, our Chief Engineer, has resigned due to real life concerns. We wish her the best of luck in future. As per his request, Lieutenant Nev Anders has be transferred to fill that vacancy.
